Last-Minute Spring Breaks

Easter falls 20 days later this year than it did in 2018. That means that even more of us are itching for a quick getaway to banish the winter blues. Thanks to the longer days and a return of the sunshine we can all look closer to home for the perfect holiday escape.

At BLOC Hotels, we pride ourself that your journey starts here. And, thanks to our Easter holiday guide, finding your perfect destination is as simple as ABC.

Amazing Amsterdam

Everyone loves tulips from Amsterdam and the Dutch celebrate this with the Tulip Festival running throughout April.

The flower fields are less than half an hour from Amsterdam and public spaces across the city centre are packed with blooms.

A major highlight is the 32 tulip-packed hectares of Keukenhof Park. If you don’t fancy hiking its 10 miles of trails, you could always hire a bike for €15 at the park entrance

Brilliant Birmingham

Do you lie awake at night thinking of video games? Insomnia is for you. The UK’s biggest gaming festival returns to Birmingham this Easter.

The NEC will showcase the latest games, cutting edge VR technology and live, professional Esports, for four days over the Easter Bank Holiday.

And the perfect place to rest between marathon gaming sessions (while exploring the rest that Birmingham has to offer) is at BLOC Hotel in the heart of the city’s trendy Jewellery Quarter.

Classy Copenhagen

Every spring, Copenhagen’s museums update their exhibitions to showcase inspiring new collections. It is the perfect city break destination for culture lovers.

Parkmuseerne district boasts six museums dotted in and around the city’s three historic parks: The King’s Garden, The Botanical Garden and the Østre Anlæg park.

And the Tivoli Gardens amusement park comes to life with flowers and night-time illuminations. It’s fairytale fun in the heart of Copenhagen.

Dive Into Dublin

Dublin’s Easter celebrations are already under starter’s orders. The highlight for any visit is a day-trip to the Irish Grand National

The three-day festival at Fairyhouse racecourse (a short hop from the capital) has an incredible party atmosphere: with live music, children’s entertainment and world-class racing.

Follow your day at the races with a Guinness or two while enjoying Dublin’s unrivalled art, cuisine, literature, music and all-round ability to have a party. Come for the craic and get lost in the culture.

Easy Edinburgh

This Easter visitors to Edinburgh can boldly go exploring new frontiers at the brilliant International Science Festival

With more than 270 workshops activities and events across the city, there’s plenty of jaw-dropping science fun for all the family.

This year you can experience everything from psychoanalysing Donald Trump’s Twitter feed to building your own incredible tech in the Gadget Factory.

Flaming Fuerteventura

If sunshine is absolutely your thing, then head to the subtropical paradise of Spain’s second largest Canary Island.

In spring, its fertile volcanic soil is bursting into life and the weather is perfect for hiking through the desert dunes of Corralejo Natural Park and along Fuerteventura’s dramatic coastlines.

Easter’s Semana Santa is a huge celebration across Spain and you can expect to see even more colour with celebrations taking place all over the island – from Caleta to Puerto del Rosario.

BLOC Magazine Spring 19-1.jpg (1.06 MB)Winter is over, and it’s time to celebrate the arrival of spring. The concept of spring cleaning is essential to the ethos of BLOC: de-clutter, throw out all the things you don’t need and make room only for the stuff that matters.

It is the season of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth. It is time to think about travel, exploring new places and investigate new business ideas.

BLOC is here to make those new experiences as easy and enjoyable as possible. Our 17th issue explores the ultimate short break destination of Copenhagen. A city full of amazing food, museums, theatres and plenty to keep kids enthralled.

We also profile Jamie Chadwick, who continues her winning ways on the race track.

Once again we hope that this magazine provides you with some insight and entertainment on your journey.
