Where can I park at the hotel?

Whilst we don't have our own car park, the nearest multi-story 24hr car park is NCP Newhall Street (352 yards).

There is also on-street parking available, in and around the Jewellery Quarter.

Is there any breakfast?

A light breakfast of artisan porridge, a granola bar, orange or apple juice and a hot drink (a token for the coffee machine) is available for £5.00. 

Breakfasts can be collected from 5am each day.

Can I get a VAT Invoice?

We know this is important, particularly for hotel guests travelling on business. We can only process this on check-out, once all charges have been added. Ask at reception for either a hard copy or for it to be emailed directly to you.

Guests who have booked through a third party (for example booking.com, Expedia or Adoga) will need to request an invoice from their booking provider.

Is it possible for you to book me a taxi?

Yes. Our preferred taxi company is located a few doors up so are normally very fast. If however, you want to book a taxi in advance, please just let us know at reception and we can do this for you as well.

Can I order Takeaway food to the hotel?

Yes. Just remember to tell them to come to reception and give you a call when they arrive. For security reasons, we cannot allow any delivery drivers into guest only corridors.

Is there anywhere I can iron my clothes?

Yes, there is a free ironing room for guests on the ground floor. Follow the signs, or ask at the hotel reception for directions.

What is the password to connect to the Wi-Fi?

You don’t need a password to access our super-fast Wi-Fi. Just select ‘Bloc-Guest’ where you'll be asked to complete a short, pop-up form. After this, your device will remain connected, free of charge, throughout your stay.

How close is the Utilita Arena Birmingham (Arena Birmingham)?

Bloc Hotel is really close to the Utilita Arena Birmingham/Arena Birmingham. The Arena, on King Edwards Road, is a 15-minute walk from reception.

Can I have Early Check-in or Late Check-out?

Yes, subject to availability. Provided your room is ready, you can check-in early from 11am for an additional charge of £20.

Late check-out is available until 2pm for an additional £20 charge, provided your room is free. Ask at reception for more details on arrival.

Where can I go to eat?

There is a wide range of great places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. Many offer exclusive Bloc Hotel discounts too. Click here to view our online 'Around the Bloc' guide for more details.

Can I have visitors at the hotel?

You may have visitors during your stay, provided you do not overcrowd the room, respect the hotel and fellow guests and keep the noise to a respectful level. All visitors must leave the hotel by 10pm. Breaking these rules will result in a warning and you may be asked to leave the hotel.

All visitors to guest accommodation must register on arrival and provide photographic identification.

Are children allowed to stay at the hotel?

Yes. Bloc Hotel is a great place for families to stay, especially if you are looking for a short break or weekend away with the kids. We have baby cots available for use during your stay, subject to availability.

Is there anywhere to purchase food or drink?

We don't have a hotel restaurant or bar. There is complimentary water in your room and a hot drinks machine in reception. Guests are also entitled to great discounts at restaurants nearby. (see above)

What extra services are available at the hotel?

We have a few different extras available for you to borrow or buy at the reception desk. These include travel adaptors (£10 deposit), corkscrews (£5 deposit) and Dental kits (£1.50).

Are any pets allowed in the Hotel?

Bloc is not a pet-friendly hotel. We do, of course, welcome guide dogs or special assistance dogs.

Can I put candles in the room?

No. Due to health and safety, we cannot authorise the use of anything that is a fire hazard such as candles, incense and irons in the smaller rooms.

Is there a Hairdryer in the room?

Yes, there is a hairdryer in every room hanging up behind the door. We have extra spare hairdryers available at reception if needed.

Do you offer any discounted rates?

Yes. We are happy to reward our regular guests with hotel discounts and preferential rates. To find out more about this and whether you qualify, please contact the hotel directly.

Do you offer a better price for group bookings?

If you are interested in making a group booking, please contact us directly by email with the details and we will do all we can to accommodate you. Email [email protected] with your group booking request.

How do I get from Bloc Hotel to New Street Station?

New Street Station is an easy 10 to 15-minute walk in a straight line from the hotel. Walk along Caroline Street towards the city centre until you arrive at Birmingham Cathedral.

Cross the park and go along Temple St. until you will reach Birmingham New Street Station.

How do I get from Bloc Hotel to the National Exhibition Centre?

The best way to get to the NEC (National Exhibition Centre) is by train from New Street Station. The journey costs about £3.60 (for a one way, single ticket) and it takes 12 minutes. Trains depart approximately every five minutes throughout the day.

A taxi from Bloc Hotel will cost about £5 to Birmingham New Street station, and about £20-£30 to the airport/NEC depending on traffic.

How do I get from Bloc Hotel to Birmingham Airport?

Birmingham Airport shares exactly the same train station as the NEC. Departures from New Street are approximately every five minutes and the journey time is around 12 minutes.

Once you arrive at the station, follow signs for the Airport and Shuttle. The free, two-minute service takes you directly to the airport terminal.

The whole trip from Birmingham New Street to the Airport normally takes between 15 and 20 minutes. And is the same cost as going to the NEC.

A taxi from Bloc Hotel will cost about £5 to Birmingham New Street station, and about £20-£30 to the airport/NEC depending on traffic.
